At Arubah Community Clinic, we continually strive to be advocates for health and wellness within our community. A local pharmacy that we partner with reached out to us with an amazing opportunity we were thrilled to be asked to participate in. Walmart offers a community grant to local businesses that work towards the greater good in our local area. Walmart awards local community grants through an open application process, and provides funding directly from Walmart and Sam’s Club facilities to local organizations in the U.S. Eligible nonprofit organizations for this grant must operate on the local level and directly benefit the service area of the facility from which they are requesting the grant. A friend at a local pharmacy filled us in on further specifications of the grant and thought Arubah Community Clinic was the perfect fit and encouraged us to apply – of course, we jumped to apply right away! We pride ourselves on the health and wellness opportunities we offer for our community and always look to further our mission of providing healthcare to the underinsured.
After applying, we received an exciting email: Walmart chose us to receive the $1,000 community grant. McKenzie Dildy, Director of Development stated, “Our first thought was that we were grateful to receive the grant – this is a huge blessing to the clinic and allows us to receive more patients to provide all the services they need to make more of an impact in our community!” Susan Scott, Clinic Coordinator, continued, “It felt great to be thought of first for this grant. The Pharmacy sought us out and encouraged us to apply because they believed in us to be given the grant!” The day arrived we went to our local Walmart for the awarding ceremony and we graciously received the grant from Walmart.
We are honored to be given this grant from Walmart and are deeply looking forward to utilizing this to continue providing excellent care to our community and serving as many patients as possible. Through this grant, we’ll be able to give nearly 30 free office visits to people in need. We believe that changing the world in a positive way begins with the health and wellness of the individual. This grant will be put to great use and we are looking forward to seeing how our community will be positively impacted.
