Who We Are
We are a community wide organization seeking the welfare of our city by caring for those who are in need of medical assistance. Arubah clinic operates as an expression of Christ and seeks to connect the hurting to health. We recognize that every life has infinite value and worth and aim to make true health obtainable physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually for those we serve.
Arubah Community Clinic was founded in 2010 by a small group of people in Collinsville and Owasso, OK who had a heart to provide quality medical care to those who otherwise have no access, due to the rising costs of health care. We are partnering with local businesses, individuals, churches and groups to bring compassionate care to our community.
Our Medical Director is Renae Bernard, MD. Dr. Bernard is a board certified and fellowship trained emergency department physician since 2009. She currently works in the emergency department at St Francis Health System. She teaches Residents, Physician Assistants and Paramedics when they rotate through the emergency department and also ultrasonography use in emergency medicine. She has volunteered at a variety of community resources since the age of 7, including Habitat for Humanity for a solid 1 year. Dr. Bernard and her 5 year old daughter enjoy photography, sewing, baking, gardening, 4-wheeling and bowling. Dr. Bernard serves because she believes Arubah is an amazing faith based organization trying to help a community in need.
Our Founder and current Board President is Hilary Nicholson. Hilary is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at a private practice in Tulsa. Hilary has been in health care for 16 years in a variety of roles ranging from education, flight nurse on a helicopter, to primary care in a private practice. She is a member at Discovery Bible Fellowship and God’s visionary for Arubah. She believes that everyone is entitled to quality health care and that all healing is found through Jesus Christ as our Savior.
Gary brings over 25 years of management experience to the Arubah team. He has 17 years of experience directing community based non-profits in the social services field and 10 years managing programs in the health care environment. Gary is a native Oklahoman, growing up in Tulsa and currently making his home in Owasso. He attends First Christian Church of Owasso and is excited about serving God through the Arubah ministry.
He received his doctorate at Oklahoma State University and practiced as a licensed professional counselor working with children and families in Stillwater and Bartlesville. Gary also managed behavioral health programs in Talihina, Oklahoma and more recently directed in-patient physical therapy and skilled nursing units in McAlester.
Shelley Nachtigall, director of development and community relations, brings more than 20 years of nonprofit Public Relations and Development experience to the Arubah Team. Her professional career has taken her from publicizing Broadway touring performances and directing the membership program at Gilcrease Museum to giving 5 a.m. interviews (and accidentally setting off the alarms!) at the Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum and, for a decade, leading the communications team at the Tulsa City-County Library. A writer, Shelley was a columnist for Tulsa Kids and has been published in numerous publications. A Collinsville native, Shelley and her family moved back to town a few years ago – and they are happy to be home! She and attends Discovery Bible Fellowship and is excited about following God’s call to use her talents to further the mission of Arubah.
Shelley oversees the fundraising and community outreach programs for the clinic. When not working you will find her helping her husband with their cottage business -Walking Bird USA, chasing her two sons, Adlei and Micah or hiding and reading magazines!
